The Quilt that started it all

Have you ever had something you wanted to do or create but had no idea where to start? That was pattern writing for me. I had been drawing blocks and quilt designs on graph paper for years with no idea how to turn it into an actual pattern that others could understand and replicate. In August of 2020, the perfect solution arrived in the form of Elizabeth Chappell’s Pattern Writing Course. I sign up as soon as I got the email excited to finally have a guide to what I wanted to do! What came next has changed my life dramatically!

The first pattern I designed in the course was Flower Garden. I wanted to design something that used simple piecing (squares only) and allowed the maker to highlight larger prints. The Flower Garden Block frames the large prints with it’s 2 accent colors to bring out a cohesive theme throughout the quilt. It is, in my opinion, the perfect use of your favorite fat quarter bundle!
